EDDM services
Every Door Direct Mail, in plain English.
EDDM is a USPS mailing option that reaches every address on a chosen carrier route, no mailing list required. Longshot Branding handles the route research, design, printing coordination, and mailing so you don't have to manage the postal process yourself.
What EDDM means
Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) is a service offered by the United States Postal Service. Instead of addressing each piece to a named recipient, EDDM lets a mailer deliver to every residential (and optionally business) address on a chosen carrier route. You choose the routes; the USPS delivers to every eligible door on those routes at the EDDM postage rate.
How USPS carrier routes work
A carrier route is the daily delivery path assigned to an individual mail carrier. Each route covers a defined set of addresses in a neighborhood. By selecting routes, you target neighborhoods rather than individual households, a practical way to reach a whole community without buying or building a mailing list.
EDDM vs. individually addressed direct mail
Individually addressed mail goes to a specific name and address, useful when you have a known list and want personalization. EDDM goes to every door on a route, useful when you want broad neighborhood coverage at a lower per-piece cost and without a mailing list. For most local service businesses trying to build familiarity across a community, EDDM is the simpler, more cost-effective choice.
How businesses choose routes
We evaluate carrier-route delivery counts and available neighborhood estimates, median income, home ownership, household composition, to find routes that align with your service area. You review the route report and decide whether the target area makes sense before you commit.
Household counts & delivery eligibility
Delivery counts come from USPS data for each route. Some addresses are not eligible for EDDM delivery; the USPS determines eligibility. The figures in our route reports are estimates for the neighborhoods represented by those routes, not guarantees about any particular household.
Print, postage, preparation & mailing
EDDM mail pieces must meet USPS specifications for size, paper, and preparation. We coordinate the print specifications, postage, bundling, and paperwork so the mailing meets USPS requirements and moves smoothly through the system.

What Longshot Branding handles
We provide the advertising, design, printing coordination, route research, and campaign management around your EDDM mailing. You supply accurate business information, approve your artwork, and prepare to respond to inquiries. We coordinate the rest, from route selection through mailing and reporting.
Shared-cost vs. funding an entire mailing
A business can fund an entire EDDM mailing on its own, and some do. Our shared-cost Community Card model splits the production and postage among up to 16 noncompeting advertisers, so each business gets a spot on a large, professional piece for a fraction of the cost. For businesses that want the full card to themselves, we can discuss a solo mailing as a separate project.
Who benefits from local direct mail
Established local service businesses, restaurants, professional services, home-service companies, and other locally owned businesses that want consistent visibility in their service area. If your customers come from specific neighborhoods, EDDM lets you reach those neighborhoods directly.
How QR codes support measurement
A unique QR code on your advertisement can capture scans and feed them into reporting and website analytics. QR tracking is a measurement layer, it adds information about engagement, but a scan doesn't prove a sale. See our QR Code Tracking page for details.
A note on USPS services
EDDM is a USPS service. Longshot Branding is an independent advertising, design, and campaign-coordination company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the USPS, and the USPS does not endorse our services.
